a) Tier I–Preliminary Examination: Time 2 Hrs. (combined). Candidates will be called for an objective type examination. Question paper will be in bilingual form i.e. in Hindi and English except the test of English language.

b) Tier II–Main Test: Time 3 Hrs. (combined)
This will be an Objective and Descriptive type examination. The objective type examination of 2 hours duration will consist of : i) Test of Reasoning, ii) Data Analysis and Interpretation, iii) Marketing Knowledge, iv) Test of English Language

The Descriptive type examination will be a test of English knowledge–Time 60 Minutes

c) Tier III–Group Discussion & Interview: Qualifying candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview and have to secure 40% (35% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate marks i.e. Group Discussion and Interview put together to be eligible for selection.

Candidates will have to pass both in Tier II & Tier III for final selection as given above.
Thereafter, Tier II and Tier III marks will be aggregated and arranged in the descending order and depending on the vacancies; selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.

SBI Probationary Officers Recruitment Exam is held every year by the Central Recruitment Board (State Bank Group) normally in the month of September-October. There are two stages, namely a Written Test and an Interview.

Stage I
Candidate will be called for an objective and descriptive type written Examination. Question paper will be in in Hindi and English except the test of English language. The Objective type examination will consist of Test of Reasoning ( 75 Questions and time suggested is 50 minutes), Quantitative Aptitude (50 Questions and time suggested is 30 minutes), General Awareness (50 Questions and time suggested is 25 minutes), Test of computer literacy and English language (50 Questions and time suggested is 30 minutes). It is important for all candidates to note that there will be negative marks for wrong answers. So total Number of questions asked is 225 and 135 minutes allotted for Objective Test. There will be negative marks for the wrong answers.

The descriptive type of test will consist of test of English language. Time allotted is 45 minutes. It serves to measure the candidate’s higher order cognitive abilities such as comprehension and analysis of situations, generation of unique ideas or situations as well as language ability. Three out of four questions have to be answered on a given situation with answers to be restricted to the space provided in the question-cum-answer sheet. There will no negative marks for questions pertaining psychometric tests and in descriptive type examination.

Stage II
The candidates who qualify on the basis of order of merit in the written examination as referred above will be called for group discussion and interview.

State Bank of India invites the applications from eligible Indian Citizens for appointment as Probationary Officers in State Bank of India (SBI). Candidates selected for existing vacancies are liable to be posted anywhere in India.

1. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

(a) Educational Qualifications: General Candidates and others–60% or more marks in class XII and 55% or more marks in Graduation or Post Graduation. SC/ST/PWD Candidates–55% or more marks in class XII and 50% or more marks in Graduation or Post Graduation.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in computer (Certificate from a reputed Institute or having computer as a subject in class XII or Graduation).

(b) Age Limit: Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.07.2008

(c) Relaxation in the Upper Age Limit to Reserve category candidates: Upper age is relaxable by (a) 3 years in the case of OBC candidates; (b) 5 years in the case of i) SC/ST candidates, ii) Ex-servicemen (including Emergency Commissioned Officers/ Short Service Commissioned Officers) provided applicants have rendered at least five years continuous Military Service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or /on account of physical disability or have been released on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service or on invalidment iii) Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Kashmir Division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir between 1st January, 1980 and 31st December, 1989, c) 10 years for VH/OH (Gen); 13 years for VH/OH (OBC) and 15 years for VH/OH (SC/ ST) candidates.
